A single reading says whether a sample is within tolerance. Only the series across batches, shifts and sites shows whether a process is stable or slowly drifting away — and that is exactly the question asked in an audit. QC software takes the values straight from the instrument, holds test plans and tolerances, and makes the deviation visible before it becomes a complaint.

The practical gain lies less in the statistics than in the manual work that disappears: no retyped values, no spreadsheets on different computers, no hunting for last quarter's report. What counts in the selection is therefore mainly which instruments can be connected, how the data gets back out of the system, and who ultimately has to read it.
