Oven temperature profiling

Oven temperature is not object temperature. A thick-walled part reaches it considerably later than a panel, and in a loaded plant the zones differ substantially. What matters for crosslinking, however, is precisely the object: if the dwell time above the minimum temperature is missed, the film stays under-cured — with consequences for hardness, chemical resistance and adhesion that nobody sees inside the oven.

A temperature logger travels through the plant with the part inside a thermal barrier and records with several probes what actually arrives at different points. The evaluation shows heating rate, peak temperature and dwell time above the threshold. That is the evidence that counts in a complaint — and the basis for changing oven zones and line speed for a reason instead of by guesswork.

• Maximum temperature and dwell time determine the thermal barrier
• Probe type and attachment to the part without damaging the surface
• Evaluation software with dwell time calculation above a freely chosen threshold
• Repeat measurement as a fixed part of process monitoring
